Pioneers in the brewing industry
Steelhead Brewing Co. is one of the pioneers of the microbrewing industry as the first major brewery in Eugene, Oregon. The restaurant was built in the downtown historic district of the city. The charming aesthetic combines with Steelhead’s classic American comfort food and modern craft beers to create an exceptional dining experience for the whole family.
When our owner, Cordy Jensen, opened the doors to our original brewery and accompanying Steelhead Brewery restaurant in Eugene in 1991, it was with legacy of restaurant ownership behind him.
Eugene, Oregon, local turned restauranteur
Cordy is a Eugene, Oregon, local and the son of restauranteurs. His parents were also pioneers in the restaurant business, as the owners of Eugene’s first drive-in, Bev’s Bar-B-Q, which opened in 1939. Cordy worked at Bev’s growing up, and after a youthful jaunt into drag racing and a stint in the U.S. Army, Cordy returned to Eugene in 1969 to be closer to his family and became the owner of his parent’s second restaurant, Bev’s Steak House.
From that moment onward, Cordy made business ownership and management his life. He has now had ownership stake in more than 14 businesses including the Steelhead Brewery restaurant and McKenzie Brewing with his partner Tony Killough.
